MensWork Project 2012 launch (Perth WA)

Dear friends and colleagues,

Unfortunately The MensWork Project team are postponing the launch event on the 16th of January.  For those who have accepted our invitation, thanks for the support and we will keep you posted on any future resurrection of the event.

We believe this event is an important way to showcase our initiatives, and particularly to hear, via the forum section of the evening, feedback and other’s views on programs for men in WA.

Below is our program of events for 2012 to give you an overview of what we plan for this year.  If you would like full information on any of these events please get back to me or give me call.

In the meantime, for those with an interest in the Men in Bali retreats and would like to rub shoulders with us and previous participants in the retreats, there is a Breakfast at Peter Efford’s house, 2 Healey Place, Gooseberry Hill on Sunday the 22nd of January at 08.00 am.  RSVP is essential, so contact Peter on epj@iinet.net.au or 9293 2363 to secure a place.

Men's Groups in Tasmania

Many men have enquired about the whereabouts and contacts for various Men's Groups around Tasmania.  To this end TASMEN has collected a number of groups that have agreed to be put on the site with their information. These groups are independently organised and conducted and any requests for more information must be directed to the particular group identified in the listing.

Launch of the new Dads In Distress website

Dads in Distress Support Services are excited to announce that we have redeveloped our website. Now we can keep you better informed of our new and improved services and events, as well as general issues affecting fathers and families. One of the many innovative features provided by the highly professional (and sympathetic) web designers Webforce Five, is our ability to tailor-make how we help you, whether you are a dad experiencing separation, or a family member, concerned citizen, volunteer, professional or politician. By taking five minutes to join the website we can automatically alert you of only the information that is relevant or of interest to you.

Walking Ground - a walking men's group

Imagine walking for 14 days in the desert of central Australia on the Larapinta Trail. Imagine doing this with a group of men, hearty real men. Imagine having sharings and check-ins under the stars. Imagine walking, imagine the desert, imagine the men, imagine the experience. In May 2011 the first Walking Ground program will trek the Larapinta Trail. It's an experiment and exploration in extending the Common Ground program to take you deeper into yourself. What better place to do it but in the desert—in the centre—with men. The focus is on the inner journey so in support of this we will be walking with light day-packs and have a support vehicle carrying the load with one rest-day midway through the trek.

Tasmanian Men’s Gathering 11–14 March 2011

Many men are caught up in a cycle of doing….. being swept along by business and living in survival mode. Our heads are full, our hearts may feel empty, we may feel over-whelmed, our relationships may be strained. We lose the balance in our life and feel dis-connected from those around us. We may feel OK but just need a re-charge. Balanced masculine energy encompasses men connecting with their essence through their heart, their head and their bodies. Tasmanian Men’s Gatherings are designed and built to get us in touch with these intelligence centres.
