Two new men's health training programs - Newcastle & Sydney

EFFECTIVE WAYS OF ENGAGING MEN

Newcastle: Friday September 24, Travelodge Hotel, West Newcastle
Sydney: Friday October 1, Hyde Park Inn, Sydney

Effective ways of engaging men is Australia’s leading men’s health promotion training program that focuses on how we can more effectively communicate health and wellbeing messages to men what agencies and organisations need to know about making their services, programs and resources more men friendly to achieve the best possible outcomes for men and boys.

You will learn through input and interactive groupwork on the day:
 
• What the current national issues are for males and principles of best practice in men’s health work
• What you need to know about the new National Male Health Policy and how this affects work with men
• How to increase your knowledge and skills in men’s health work
• About the use of the H.E.A.L.T.H. model for engaging men
• About current successful men’s health promotion strategies and resources
• How to develop your own effective men friendly programs and resources for your organisation or service

The workshop will also provide you with an opportunity to network and build collaborative partnerships to improve the delivery of men friendly services in your area. This program is provided in a strengths based model that addresses the social determinants of health.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Greg Millan is a social work trained health educator and trainer with over 18 years experience in the men’s health promotion area developing and implementing many workshop programs, community events and resources covering a wide range of male health and wellbeing issues. He has worked for Government, Non-government organisations and the private sector.
 
Greg is the Vice President of the Australasian Men’s Health Forum Inc., Australia’s peak body on men’s health and wellbeing; Member of the International Society for Men's Health (ISMH); Member of the Board of Advisors of the Men's Health Network USA. He produces emale Australia’s largest circulation free national monthly men’s health and wellbeing ebulletin and is the author of “Men’s health & wellbeing: an a–z guide”. He was worked for many organisations in the Hunter over the last seven years.

COST

$170 for one day training program, training resource pack, all refreshments and lunch plus 3 month follow up support with your program/resource development.
